How are you guys successful fishing for bass on the Ohio River? Do you fish the main river, or do you fish the creeks feeding into the river?

I was thinking about fishing the Ohio river near Cannelton Indiana, but I would have to buy an Indiana fishing license to fish the large Deer Creek on the Indiana side of the river.

—Current breaks where there are eddys on the main river
—- rock banks, docks, some type of hard cover
—- creek mouths where there is hard cover (rocks, boulders, barge tie offs)
    — downsize your baits (tubes, shaky head, squarebills, small buzzbaits w/ trailer hook, spinnerbait, small jigs, creature baits).

I fish farther south around Evansville, IN. We usually catch a lot spots and a few largemouths.

I’ve fished it a couple times around Louisville. We caught fish on the main river, but the bigger ones came from the feeder creeks. Definitely downsize your baits and lower your expectations. It can be tough to catch a 12” fish sometimes.

That’s what I was guessing it would be like.

flipping and pitching craw baits and jigs in the feed in from Bear Grass creek of River Rd in Louisville has netted me a few 1-2.5 lb bass but the bite has always been a little tough
